Paddleboarders stand up for the lake in Burlington

The U.S. O’Pen Cup 'Un-Regatta' soared to new heights this weekend at New Bedford Community Boating as fifty kids packed in ten heats, tandem freestyle, and the Black Dog GPS Speed Test. Giant slalom, 'O’Pen Cross', and compulsory maneuvers challenged the O’Pen BIC sailors. The Maltese Falcon finds a new owner

(sfgate)  Tom Perkins, prominent Silicon Valley venture capitalist and ultra-millionaire, is close to finalizing the sale of his super yacht, the Maltese Falcon.  The reported price tag: 60 million pounds ($101,531,400), according to the British newspaper The Times. After nearly a year on the market, the price was trimmed from about $150 million, which is believed to be about what Perkins had paid for the boat.  READ MORE

Frenchman sets new 24-hour sailing record

(AFP)  Frenchman Pascal Bidegorry and his Banque Populaire V trimaran on Saturday set a new record for the distance sailed by a yacht in 24 hours, a spokesman for the sailor confirmed.  Bidegorry's 12-man crew covered 880 nautical miles (1,629km) at an average speed of 36.66 knots by 06:00GMT Saturday morning to beat the previous mark of 843.7 achieved just three hours earlier by compatriot Franck Cammas.  READ MORE
