What is a Yachtmaster Certification and what can it do for me?
The Royal Yachting Association's (RYA) Yachtmaster Offshore Certification is an intense three-week program designed for those with significant maritime experience who are looking to enhance their skills and hold a certification that is recognized and admired worldwide. Upon successfully completion of the program, Confident Captain students join the elite group of Yachtmasters whose certification is recognized by over 22 countries, including all “Red Ensign” countries, and are certified to captain vessels up to 200 tons. If you are looking to work on mega yachts or foreign flagged vessels, the Yachtmaster Offshore certification is what you need to stand apart from your competition. Likewise, many Yachtmasters have their certification for primarily recreational use because the training that you will receive in this program is of the highest caliber.
Confident Captain/Ocean Pros is one of the two facilities located in the United States that offers the RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Certification. The program consists of three unique one-week courses; the first week is spent in our new classroom perfecting navigation, deck, and safety skills. The second week of the program takes place outside of the classroom and aboard a yacht; a RYA instructor will accompany students and will be administering practical exams based on the content learned the week before. The third component of the program is STCW-95 Basic Safety Training; this week long course will ensure that the Yachtmaster is equipped with the knowledge to handle all types of incidents aboard. Confident Captain/Ocean Pros is offering daytime theory courses in June, July, and August with training cruises scheduled for July and August.
